Secure Dragon Network Repair and Denver Network Information

This week has been a roller coaster of emotions for us and we would like to provide some additional updates, some good and some not as good as we would like.

First up is the seemingly random outages that occurred this week from Monday – Tuesday. We are still working with our data center on a permanent fix for this that will eliminate all BGP issues in the future by handing off all IP announcements and BGP management to our data center. We will begin working on this Sunday (1/27) @ 3PM EST. The maintenance window for this will be 3 hours (3-7PM EST). We are expecting minimal downtime while we do the cut over and move some cables. We will be reconfiguring our current router and place a new Cisco router in for redundancy. Since this is a critical break-fix situation we will not be able to schedule this for the future and will need to happen as soon as possible to ensure no more future outages.

An RFO (Reason For Outage) will be provided once the issue is permanently resolved but at this time we do not know what caused the outage or what fixed the outage, both seemingly happened on their own with no intervention by us and with our data center claiming no changes by them. Normally we do not issue SLA credits prior to releasing an RFO but you may open a ticket with our Billing department to receive your RFO credit if you were impacted by this outage.

At this time IPv6 is not working due to the instability of our router and we are erring on the safe side by not making any changes to our network once connectivity was restored. Our DDOS Protected IPs and Denver location were not impacted by this outage.

Now for some good news.

Our new OpenVZ node arrived in Denver on Tuesday and has been configured and running for over 48 hours without any issues and with all hardware and tests reporting normal.

We originally had plans on providing order links for current clients to get orders in before we release them publicly but have instead opted to use the same order links for our current OpenVZ line and just add a drop down menu to select between Tampa and Denver. This drop down is live as of this e-mail and we will allow all new orders for Denver at this time. We will not publish this change on our website until Sunday night to allow all active clients who are reading this e-mail to obtain a VPS now if they wish to get one. We only have a single node available right now so stock will be limited until we near capacity for this node and ship another up there.

For all clients who wish to transfer their current OpenVZ service to Denver, please open a ticket with our Support department and we will begin processing requests next week as we have time. All VPS migrations will receive a new IP address and we will only allow transfers until the node reaches 50% capacity, after that all pending transfers will be cancelled and the process will repeat when we add a new node. All transfer requests are not guaranteed so if you wish to obtain an OpenVZ VPS in Denver your best bet is to place a new order.

At this time only OpenVZ and Backup VPSs will be available in Denver. DDOS Protection is not currently available in Denver.

Thank you for your understanding during these past few days and we are positive that things will only continue to improve as we make the necessary changes to our current infrastructure while continuing to grow in areas we excel in.
